I found it mattered (to some degree) what color one starts with in the color Brazil. I first started with a different color and I didn't like the effect nearly so much. I kind of think starting with a first or second color being one you really like (or one that is bolder than the others) probably gives a more pleasing look overall.Beckihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16940604077427078249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4180424865669168363.post-34444457905443815872018-10-05T10:52:46.606-04:002018-10-05T10:52:46.606-04:00Thank you, Rain.Thank you, Rain.Beckihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16940604077427078249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4180424865669168363.post-65392773001325329342018-10-05T10:52:28.756-04:002018-10-05T10:52:28.756-04:00Yes, Domics, the yarns in the first two hats above...Yes, Domics, the yarns in the first two hats above is self-striping. The end result is a super dense pom pom that requires only minimal shaping. I've gone from my thinking last year that my store-bought pom pom makers were fairly pointless - to loving them now.Beckihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16940604077427078249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4180424865669168363.post-89900747927606495062018-10-02T11:02:48.066-04:002018-10-02T11:02:48.066-04:00Your pompoms look so perfectly round and fluffy!

When I say I took care, I mean I kept checking and even turning it and working the thread in the button shank so it was straight. When I finished knotting it on really good I took another look and realized that the eagle is upside down!!!! I don't know whether it's noticeable without telling someone to look, but I have a feeling the OCD me will make the lazy me fix it. I highly recommend Deborah Norville's Everyday yarn for anyone who has a use for acrylic. I think it has a good feel, and the hats I'm making with it are just the right combination of sturdy and soft. I'm using other yarns as well. I'm just sharing with you my preference.

I keep holding up hats to my 23 year-old son to see if he's impressed. I think he's afraid I'm going to knit one for him, as his responses are pretty non-committal. I'm taking that as complete freedom to knit and crochet as I please. No Christmas gift pressure here. lol

No. You did not guess correctly what is wrong with the button.
