I hope you are having a lovely Christmas season, wherever you are. December is now nearly over and before taking down the tree and putting decorations away, I thought I'd create a little video "Christmas Card" for my readers - even if it's a little cheesy, and a lesser quality than seems to play on my phone. I trust you will appreciate the attempt, as amateur as it is. If it makes you dizzy, just close your eyes and enjoy the 2-minute tune.
and Happy New Year!
The song playing is called Long Years Ago (on the album cover). It's a beautiful tune and I've tried to locate the words to this song, but the only things that come up are an English folk song about a sailor and his bride, and a church choir singing something that sounds nothing like this rendition. If you're familiar with this song, I'd love more information.
Becki, this is the cutest idea ever. I am so going to copy you next year. I loved seeing all those sweet ornaments and the song sounds familiar. I do love it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteAww... thanks, Sandy. The tune has familiar sounds in it, but I can't say I've ever heard the whole thing. I need to search through my collection of hymnals and see if I can find it there. I'm just surprised that Google doesn't bring it up!
DeleteThanks, Becki, for the lovely Christmas card. Enjoyed seeing all the cute ornaments on your tree. I'm not familiar with the song. That pretty little tree ornament stitched in rainbow colours is familiar to me. I think our family had one like it years ago. Have no idea what became of it. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I THINK that needlepointed Christmas tree (and there was a red bird) were from a kit I got from Current in the 1980's. I miss that seasonal catalog. I did a number of stitched projects from them in the day. In fact, I have some partially stitched needlework ornaments in my stash that I really should finish. :)
DeleteThank you for the Christmas greeting! Happy New Year to all of you, especially your Mom.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Liz!
DeleteWhat a great idea. I loved the video of your handmade ornaments. Look how talented you are to make a video and add music to it. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you all the best in 2025.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maureen! It was a good Christmas, though one of our sons was sick so he and his girlfriend didn't make it (that was a third of us absent). Looking forward to 2025!
DeleteWhat a treat to see all your ornaments. I love a tree decorated with items from hands and hearts. It is so nice to look at all your handiwork.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ruth! :) Even though the tree isn't decorated perfectly (the bare spots were more evident to me in the video), I do enjoy our collection of ornaments. Some handmade. Some from our childhoods. Decorating the tree is an opportunity to remember old times. And I love this smallish tree we brought home from my MIL's after she passed in 2020. It's a perfect size for us now, and for the spot I've found for it in this house.
DeleteSuch a delight to see all your beautiful ornaments on your tree, thank you. I love trees that reflect years of memories as yours so obviously does. Blessed Christmas season to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary Anne. ❤️
DeleteAww, that was super cute. Merry Christmas Becki!
ReplyDeleteThanks, TB! 😁
DeleteHow lovely to see all your tree ornaments. I’m sure there are some happy memories tied in with the making or finding of the decorations. I love the wee gingerbread man. Thanks for sharing the video. Liz (Highlandheffalump)
ReplyDeleteYes, lots of good memories, Liz. I love how different people notice different ornaments. These comments are so fun. 😊
DeleteNot cheesy or dizzying in the slightest! Thank you for taking time to put this together. I recognized a tri-bead candy cane (made loads of those with kids in the past!) and a few other ornaments similar to ones I own or have made. Loved the little cross-stitched stocking!
ReplyDeleteMrs. T, I THINK our boys made those bead candy canes somewhere that I wasn't. They are a cute and fun old fashioned craft.
DeleteWhat a sweet Christmas greeting. Your tree is decorated with so many lovely handmade items. Lots of love on that tree. I hope you have a happy and healthy 2025.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marsha. ❤️
DeleteWell that was absolutely lovely, my friend! I loved it! I hope you enjoy a happy and blessed new year!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Billie Jo. I hope you have the best new year!
DeleteVery pretty tree! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year! 🎉
ReplyDeleteThat was from me, Lori Wolff 😂
DeleteOh my goodness! Hi, Lori! I'm so glad you identified yourself. I hope all of you had a good Christmas, too. ❤️
DeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful and not at all 'cheesy'. Loved it! Call it "vintage". Very tastefully done!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Becki, and thank you! Ever the creative one, you are. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely Christmas card! I enjoyed seeing your variety of ornaments, including a few that were similar to some in our collection. For the past several years, we have had a table top tree, decorated simply with pomanders, orange slices, and (faux) cranberry garland. My husband mentioned this year that he kind of missed our old tree with all of the family ornaments, so who knows what might happen here at our house next year? :)
