A colorful finish...

This was a successful week in that it saw the finish of my Kilim Throw.  The Kilim was a very satisfying blanket to work on and it was really pretty quick work.  I started it on January 23rd and finished it on February 23rd.

Made with double stranded worsted it's super thick and will make a great winter time blanket. I finished just in time to enjoy this beautiful weekend (it's 65 degrees here in central Indiana today). Aaaahh... spring is in the air.  :^)   While it may be some months before I can truly enjoy this blanket, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Made with just about every color in Vanna's Choice yarn (which I find a bit muted anyway, and stranded with another color - even more so), it's got something of a vintage-y feel to it.

It would be fun to work up in some other (even more vibrant) colors.  Maybe?

  3. I love the blanket, it's muted vintage tones seem to suit it very well. Perhaps the next one you work will have to be in brights :)

    1. Thanks, Kathy. It grew quickly because of the thickness of the double-stranded yarn and the large hook (size N). Well, that and it is a very easy stitch pattern. ;^)

    1. Hi Jenn! Thanks so much for your comments. I'd love to easily visit your blog, but there is no link back to it. On the chance that that isn't intentional I thought I'd mention it. It would make it so much easier to find you if you provided a link with your name. I love seeing your many different creative things. :^)

  9. Gorgeous blanket. So soft and squishy looking. The colors are so nice even if they are a bit muted. It looks like the kind of blanket you would want to go over you when you needed a hug.

  10. You gave me the hint for just what I've been looking for...muted colors! Thank you! That is one beautiful blanket! And one month? Good for you. My C-to-C was that way and a pleasure to work on. Yours is just gorgeous! Does 2 strands of worsted worked together make a "chunky" yarn? Just curious as I have no chunky but lots of worsted. What's next? I always love your projects and you do such beautiful work.

    1. Thank you so much, Sam! Yes, Working with double-stranded yarn and a big hook is what made this blanket so easy to finish so quickly. Well, that, and it was just plain fun to watch it grow. ;^) I'd say combining two worsted weight yarns (especially Vanna's Choice) will give you the same effect as if you're using a chunky or extra bulky yarn. Thinner worsteds may not, though. I used a size N hook. I probably could have used my big ole P hook, but I really wanted to use my pretty new wooden hook and it was a size N. It worked perfectly.
