The games have begun...

In Rio, as well as in the homes of Raveler's around the world!

Before starting some smaller projects, I wanted to get my Spice of Life Blanket to a stage where finishing it over the next two weeks was feasible.

I'm feeling good about the progress made and I'm happy to say it's nearly finished.  Just a few more rows of double crochet and then the edging!  I'm hoping to finish it in another couple of days. though maybe that's a bit optimistic. I have a feeling crocheting a border up and down the length of this thing will take some significant time, but hopefully next Sunday I can post a finished picture.

There are also a number of small projects I hope to finish during the Ravellenics.   There's a linen stitch scarf and a knitted dishcloth, and a pair of fingerless mits I hope to make.  And I'm going to try to finish a little doily I started last April.  There are a few other things queued up onto my Ravelry projects page I may get around to, but I'm also well aware that I've probably planned far more items than I'll likely actually finish before August 21st.  We'll see what happens over the next two weeks while the Olympic games are going on in Rio!  Who knows.  I may come up with entirely different projects in that time.

  1. That is so awesome that you are so close to finishing up the blanket! Are both about done or one of them?

    1. I think I'm just going to finish the one blanket during the Ravellenics. I could probably finish both, but I want to make some other stuff, too, I'm finding.

  2. Is it wrong that the first thing I think of when I hear 'olympics' is ravelympics? I didn't notice the ravelympics this year. Several years ago there was some flap about ravelry using running games during the games so maybe that is why... I expected another flap! So nice to set aside a time for finishing up projects instead of the whole challenge to cast on and finish something super quickly.

    1. I wasn't active on Ravelry during the last Olympics/Ravelympics, but I'm thinking what I've read was that the flap was about the name. I could be wrong, but I thought Ravlery was told they couldn't use a form of the name Olympics in the name they gave the event. That's mind boggling to me. But it doesn't seem to have diminished the fun.

  3. Your blanket is so pretty. I think you are right about the yime the border will take. Will look forward to your progress during the Olympics.

  6. I can't wait to see your Spice of Life blanket get past the finish post. It is packed full of gorgeous yummyness, and I really love the colours.
I had a look at your projects page and love all of the things on there. I really must resist from adding any of them to my queue though, even though I really want to make a few of them too. I'll clear a few of mine first and then take another look at yours for inspiration.

  7. Yay, I'm so excited to see the finished blanket! I have been hearing a lot about people participating in the Ravellenic games but I don't understand what that is about. I am sure you will do well though.

    1. I linked to the games in last week's post, but I don't think my link was obvious. I'm glad to see you found more information on Renee's blog. Maybe we'll see you in the games!

  9. I think you will have a gold medal finish with all your projects! The blanket is so pretty and I'm sure you will have it finished in no time. I'm sure you crochet as fast as Micheal Phelps swims across the pool!
