This always seems to be my favorite post - where I take stock of all the crafty projects I've finished over the past year. Even though personal life events over the last 12 months took a toll on my ability, motivation, and even desire to craft at times, it's still fun to see what I did manage to get done.
I didn't explore any new crafts, but I enjoyed again crocheting with thread:
And yarn:
While this sampler didn't get completed, it remains a favorite:
And I was very happy to recently finish up some projects that I had stitched up years ago, but had never done anything with:
While this round-up doesn't look like much compared to YOP years past, looking back over these projects and compiling this post does make me smile. And I think it increases my motivation to pull out some of my languishing projects and get cracking on them.
Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my year of crafts projects with you! 😊
You have been extremely productive with your crafts, I don't care what you say about it!!! And on top of that, your handiwork is EXCELLENT! I enjoyed the review!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbara. I feel like I've been a slug in the crafting department. ;^) It doesn't bother me, though. I figure whatever bits of crafting I did, it brought needed moments of normal to my life this past year. :)
DeleteBecki, I am so happy you are in this group! Your projects are always such pretty ones and you do such a good job on everything you do. I can't wait to see your plans for this coming year and your cross stitch is so pretty. Didn't you also do a silhouette XS and a bird? All of it is a feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteOh Sam... you know how to make my day, friend. I thought I had finished that silhouette cross stitch during this YOP year, too, but when I looked back I found I posted it and the bird stitches in last year's YOP update. Time sure does fly, doesn't it?!?
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your accomplishments. Those little finishes on your past cross stitch are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think those make me happiest of all. Thank you, Sandy. :)
DeleteWhat a pretty post. Your thread doilies are amazing. I'd be afraid to use them they are so pretty. Your cross stitches are also gorgeous. I forgot about the pumpkins. So cute!!
ReplyDeleteActually, I've learned from experience that thread crochet is pretty durable. These doilies don't get dirty, but if they did, a hand (or even machine) wash and a blocking air dry and they'd be good as new. I had no idea how sturdy crochet thread was until I weekly washed some embroidered and crocheted bordered pillowcases and I saw for myself how well it holds up. I'm still using the same pillow case for the second year in a row and it's looking good.
DeleteWith all your contending with in the past year I think your output is fantastic. I love all those lacy doilies - one day I will try that too. I love all the little things you found and finished up into little pillows and things. Such a lovely wrap-up post - thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU, Mary-Anne. :)
DeleteI think you have been very productive so many beautiful things it's hard to pick a favourite. I seem to have ground to a halt. I love your doily's I used to crochet with thread more than anything else but I find it really difficult now. Have great week. xx
ReplyDeleteI think one of the things that's inspiring me to embroider/cross stitch, and to knit with thread is that I suspect those days are numbered. I want to get in what I can while I still can. ;^)
DeleteYour doilies are so pretty. They would brighten up any room. Cross stitch take much more time than crochet or knit. The fact you finished so many pieces is amazing. Your bowl pillows inspired me to start cross stitching again after a 30 year hiatus from it. May the next year not throw any major life curves at you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good point. I have been suprised at how slow cross stitch is. I don't remmember it feeling that many years ago. You know... what inspired me to pick up cross stitching again was finding myself the holder of a bunch of vintage Just Cross Stitching magazines someone else was wanting to get rid of. I told myself I was silly hanging onto them - even just as eye candy. That there was no way I was going to actually do it again. No one was more suprised than me when I decided to start stitching again. And now I can't seem to stop - even if I am slow...
DeleteBeautiful pieces
ReplyDeleteCrocheting with thread is a skill to admire.
What I find fascinating about it, is how easy many intricate-looking doily patterns are to actually make. And how a good blocking transforms a shriveled up piece of lacy work. :)
DeleteI so love your little collection of pumpkins so that's great to have another opportunity to see them. Like Sam I was sure you'd done a bird xs this year so that has really flown of it was in last June's summary! Also as Marsha said xs is much slower. It took me 20 years to finish the only one I've ever made lol! I love the November hedgehog best...or maybe the pumpkins...its a tie. Love the both best x
ReplyDeleteI really like those pumpkins too. It seems I make at least a few every year or so. Sometimes I give them away, so my collection is always changing. ;^)
DeleteLooks like you've had a productive year, despite all the life that got in the way of creativity. You, like me, obviously enjoy a variety of pursuits.
ReplyDeleteToo many, I fear. In downsizing, whittling away at my craft supplies is the hardest.
DeleteCrocheting with thread is lovely. Such an old craft. My grandmother had many large doilies made this way. And I love your pumpkins. Missed that post I think.
ReplyDeleteI love making doilies in surprising colors. It inspires me to use an old fashioned thing in a new way.
DeleteYou've accomplished so much! I love the doilies.

Thank you, Amalia. :)
DeleteBeautiful! I love seeing your posts as everything you do is so 'finished'. Every detail is perfect, right down to the photos themselves.
