Small things...

A very short post this week.    I present another small (7-inch) doily from the book, 99 Little Doilies:
While it holds the distinction of being Doily #1,
I'm calling it Octagonal Pineapple Doily

Other than that, the only other yarny thing I did this week was discover a new dishcloth pattern:

It's called Blissfull Moss Rib Cloth.   It is a bit blissful of a knitting project - working up super quick (for a knitted cloth).  I like how it forms a ribbed pattern, but I kind of dislike how small it is when finished because it puckers up (like ribbing does).   But then again, I prefer smaller dishcloths (somewhere between 7.5 - 8 inches) so when I finished it, I didn't mind that it was on the small side.  But then I washed it and it puckered up to hardly anything.  I pulled and tugged on it as I folded it, but it looks so very sadly shriveled atop the stack of newly washed dishcloths.  Then again, when it gets wet it stretches out to nearly 8 inches.  So I don't know...  For now I'm a bit ambivalent about my blissful new cloth pattern.

And that, friend, is all I've got.    To see what other YOPers are up to, visit our group on Ravelry.

  3. There you go tempting me with your doilies again! That is a beautiful one and so traditional with the pineapple emblem. I like the traditional designs and you do such beautiful work. Too bad about the dish cloth but as long as it works when wet that is all that really matters.

    1. lol - yes... the main thing is how it behaves in the water. I just got Marsha's favorite dishcloth pattern. I may try to give that a go this week.

  4. Rockin the doilies. I saw some Pinterest link on how to frame your doilies. You outta have a wall mosaic of them where you can change them out.

  6. Lovely work. I have one large doily my granny made, and I put it into an embroidery hoop and hung it on my bedroom wall where I hook all by earrings on it when they aren't being worn.

    1. I recently remembered that I have a doily in a wire hoop that my husband's grandmother made many years ago (I'm sure over 30 years ago). It started to come apart and I took it down thinking I might repair it, but not knowing how, I put it away for safe keeping. I wonder if I'd know how to fix it now...?

  7. I love the doily, I think the white is just a perfect colour for showing off the design of the pattern. The cloth looks great but I think the puckering up would bug me no end, but it is a lovely pattern.

    1. Thanks, Ruth! And yes... I think I'm over the ribbed dishcloth. I've discovered another (different) fine pattern, though. :)

  8. I've always liked pineapple patterns - my mother had a number of doilies around the house that were made with various derivatives of it.

    1. Pineapples seem to be a common theme with doilies. Don't know why that is. They aren't my favorite design in a doily, but I do seem to come across them often.
