I discovered the pleasure of crocheting doilies and mandalas:
And while working with thread, I discovered some bookmark patterns that are quick and satisfying:
Speaking of quick and satisfying, who doesn't love the quick gratification of small projects?
Looking back over the last 12 months, I'm reminded that this YOP year is when I learned to knit hats:
And continued to crochet some favorite hat patterns, too:
I also continued knitting and crocheting scarves. BTW, the scarves below and the hats above were mostly made for gifts and charity. I thought I'd mention that just in case anyone wonders if I wear all these. 😉
On a non-yarny note, I finished my first embroidered pillowcases with a crocheted edging. Now, these are for me!
And finally... a yearly look at projects made would not be complete without a round up of all the blankets crocheted.
There were baby blankets:
Some larger blankets:
And two special-to-me Spicier Life Blankets that represent many hours each of crocheting and sewing in ends.
Oh, the ENDS!
And that, dear reader, is the end
of this past Year of Projects!
Thank you for coming along with me
on this look back over the last twelve months.
Such variety in those doilies I think they are some of my favourites, but I also really like those chunky scarves you made with the yarn held double. The other thing I notice with all the items together, you have such a wide variety of colours you’ve used. A rainbow of beautiful items.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting that you noticed the variety of colors. I don't really pay attention to that when I'm crocheting and knitting through the year. I got a lot of enjoyment out of making those doilies. Thank you, Liz! :)
DeleteWow, so great to see everything you stitched up! Good luck with the next round!
ReplyDeleteJenn
Thank you, Jenn. :)
DeleteI should just take your finished projects for this year and make it my project list for this year! LOL! You accomplish so much and it is all so beautifully done. I've told you before; I want to be just like you when I grow up! You had a great year and I am so happy you shared it with all of us.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love you, Sam. I'm so glad to belong to the same mutual admiration society as you. :) Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to being inspired by your Year 8 wrap up!
DeleteWhat a brilliant year? You have accomplished so much and everything here looks just perfect. I look forward to seeing your list for next year!
ReplyDeleteThank, Lucy. Looking forward to reading your YOP Year 8 wrap-up too! :)
DeleteAh Becki, what great projects you completed this past year. The variety is very good also. I am very excited to see what you have in mind for next year's list.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marsha. I have no solid goals for next year, so we'll see how the upcoming months unfold.
DeleteLoved the mandala and doily roll call + your blankets. You got done an extraordinary amount for the year. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteMandala and doily roll call. I love it! On a daily (or even monthly) basis, I often don't feel like I have much to show for my time spent with yarn or thread. But seeing it all in an annual round-up, I'm slightly overwhelmed at how much time must have gone into making things. But it makes me smile to see it all again. :)
DeleteYour colourful update mades me sooooo happy. Everything is beautiful and I can't wait to see what you will learn to do next year. (PS: I think I have to add that spicer life blanket pattern to my to-do list for the coming year. )
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary-Anne. I will tell you Spicier Life wasn't hard at all, but the ends were a bit of a drag. And it needs a good blocking to make it respectable. :)
DeleteBecki you've had such a wonderfully creative year! The selection of projects is both colourful and pleasing to the eye. Of course I just love all the blankets but I think the doilies you made this year really did steal my heart and whenever I see them I'm reminded how beautiful they would make mounted on card and framed as pictures!
ReplyDeleteI have given most of the doilies away, but your suggestions have me now wanting to make more. I'm guessing there will be doilies in next year's final round-up as well. :) Thank you so much, Ruth.
DeleteWhat a fabulous post and impressive year!! A veritable feast for the eyes. Thanks for putting that all together.
ReplyDeleteI love having a reason to have put it all together. Day by day I don't have the impression that I'm doing much with yarn, but seeing a year's work all together at the same time makes me realize how much I did accomplish. Thank you, Maria!
DeleteOh wow - I know you've been busy, but didn't realize just how much until I saw this roundup of projects! I tried to pick a favourite out of them all, but I can't decide.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be amazing to see all of your projects in one post, Mary Anne. I think I would be blown away.
DeleteOh wow - just the THOUGHT of trying to put such a post together gives me the willies. Although - it would be fun, wouldn't it!
Delete:)
DeleteYou've had such a Beautiful year. I can't wait to see what you do in year 9!
ReplyDeleteSuch great inspiration!
Thank you, Allison. It's so good to "see" you again! :)
DeleteWow, you made so many pretty things. I particularly love your mandalas...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine. :)
DeleteWhat a productive and colorful year you had! I wish I could crochet--but I just can't seem to manage my tension correctly. I really love those last 2 blankets you showed, and I can only imagine all those ends.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to YOP'ing for 2019/2020 and have been busy making my list.
xoxo
Kim
