Conquering some WIPs...

This week saw two finishes - yay me!

My first finish was a linen stitch scarf I intended for Greg for Christmas.  It was all done except for a couple dozen (at least) ends that needed weaving in.  It helped that the day I committed to finishing it (last Sunday) an out-of-state friend called and I could mindlessly and painlessly get that job done while enjoying a long chat.   Greg wore it the next day (and every day since).

The bottom there is a little messy because I hadn't take a picture before Greg wore it all day on Monday.   So that messy bottom part is witness to some scarf love.  :^)

And then later in the week I finished the child-sized pink! Tides of Change blanket:

I love this thing!  It's bright and cheery, and I can just see a little girl snuggling under it enjoying the total unabashed girlie-ness of it.

Some other things have been worked on as well, but I'll save them for next time.  My other WIPs from last weekend will wait a little longer as I enjoy some new crochet infusions.  I've concluded some new projects will be good for my creative soul, and good for helping to tame the yarn stash I've amassed over the last year.

'Till next time... come visit the Year of Project thread on Ravelry to see what other Yoppers are up to.

  1. Your lovely scarf has just inspired me to look at the pattern on Ravelry. I like your subtle, grown-up colours.

    1. I hope you try it and like it as much as I do, Una. It's my favorite scarf pattern, especially for combining and playing with colors.

    1. Thanks, Lucy. My husband really likes the colors that mingle with the gray.

  3. Wow, that's two big finishes!!! It's a tremendous accomplishment to finish a linen stitch scarf - such tedious knitting but such a great result. And so great that it's getting so much love! And that Tides of Change blanket it all kinds of awesome. It's really a show-stopper!

    1. Just to clarify, the scarf is crocheted, but yes... even crocheted the linen stitch is fairly tedious. But I do love it for combining colors. It seems to make the most disparate colors play nice together. ;^)

  4. As much as I dislike pink, that blanket is gorgeous! And even tough I have two boys, I can see both of them unashamedly fighting over who gets to use it.

    1. Lisa, I'd love you to consider joining the Year of Projects project. I'm pretty sure it's fine to join in any time, but for those unsure, they can read along and join in July when a new YOP year is begun. While some of the Yoppers go with the calendar year, the thread itself runs from July through June of the following year. I have found I really like this schedule. Anyway...not that anyone needs an invitation to join, consider yourself invited! Anyone reading this - consider yourself invited! :^)
