Year of Projects end of year...

This is the second Year of Projects I've completed and once again I'm just amazed at how fast a YOP year goes by.   Here at the end of June, it's fun to take stock and see what all was completed since this time a year ago.

My official (and less interesting to look at) YOP list for this past year is here.

While the following isn't everything I've worked on and completed, it's a good representation:

Some Goody Bags and a Tunisian stitch pillow

Small doilies

A beginning to my Potholders for Posterity collection

Practical and just-for-fun projects

Gifts

Scarves

and more scarves

And of course, blankets
  colorful blankets...

Small projects

And projects with many parts (yet to be completed):

Knitting was something I tried my hand at this year and and while I didn't venture too far from making dishcloths, I did find that knitting dishcloths really did improve my stitch consistency and tension.  Maybe during the next YOP year I'll challenge myself to move beyond the humble dishcloth with my knitting needles.

The Year of Projects project runs from the first Sunday in July through the last Sunday of June of the following year.  Next Sunday most of us will be posting our new lists.   Everyone's lists are different - some people create lists with specific projects and some of us prefer a more casual, open-ended sort of list.  We always love to see new bloggers join us so consider yourself invited to join in on the fun and camaraderie  of this weekly challenge!  There's no pressure to post each week, but each Sunday a new thread is opened in our group on Ravelry where members can post their Year of Projects post.   Come drop in and see what it's all about!

  2. That's an impressive amount achieved. And seeing them this way, in photo collages, really brings home how wonderfully you choose and combine colours!

  3. Well there's my list for next year! LOL! I love everything you do and mostly because it is always done so well and in such beautiful color combinations. I love the potholders for posterity and of course, we share a love of blankets but definitely love your bookmark too. Your scarves remind me of mine that I started like yours but are in a drawer somewhere! This year is going to be a year of finishes for me I hope and not going off the rails as much? I'm going to try anyway but there are just so many tempting projects that show up during the year (like yours) that it will take real self-discipline on my part and I think as I've aged it is in short supply! LOL! I think I should print off your 'roundup', pin it up for me to use as inspiration and motivation for this coming year. Congratulations on so many beautiful and 'finished' projects! So looking forward to another YOP year with you! I can't wait to see your list next week. Maybe I should hold off until I see yours! LOL! Is that cheating? LOL! Hugs....Sam

    1. lol - you are funny, Sandra. You inspire me in so many ways, so I find your words of encouragement well... greatly encouraging. When I copy someone's else's idea I always hope they see it as flattering and not cheating. lol I still have it in mind to do a granny square scrapghan, all because I love the granny square blanket you made (was it this past year or the year before?) I love it when you use it as a background for your projects pictures.

  6. Holey bagels! What a photo roll of projects. The dishcloth collection was fun to look at. I like the first goody bag and that felted bowl which looks like you transformed a robin's nest with your wand. The lacy market bags are neat too. Great show for YOP 6.

    1. Thanks, Stefanie. I didn't post any pictures of dishcloths above, so I suspect you mean the potholder collection (they kind of look like dishcloths). My "Potholders for Posterity" is one of my favorite projects and I plan to continue building my collection next year.

  7. You did soooooo much. I love the pictorial roundup. I think I will try that next year. Wow. Next year already - can't wait to see what you crochet (and knit) up in the future.

    1. Oh, thank you so much, Mary-Anne. When I first saw my post and all those pictures, I sort of thought, "Wow! What a show-off". lol I cringed a bit (that anyone else might think that), but decided to leave it as is because I know how much I love seeing other's pictures. I'm sure there are many programs people can use, but I used the free services of picmonkey to make my collages.

  8. I always love all your projects. What do you use for lighting?

    1. Thank you, Erin. I love your projects, too. :) I try to use natural lighting as much as possible - using the controls on my DSLR camera to adjust things like shutter speed and the ISO. I need to practice more with other controls, but when I'm ready to shoot a finished project I'm never in the mood (or feel I have enough time to do these other things). Unless I'm taking a picture outside, I have two main places in my home where I shoot pictures. Many pictures are taken on a marble top table I have in my living room next to a west-facing window. Pictures taken of hanging items are done in my back hallway where light from a south-facing door illuminates the space. Rarely, I'll use a lamp or my camera's flash to illuminate an object, but I have resorted to that when I'm needing to get a picture and it's too dark otherwise to get one using only natural light. And of course, once I download the pictures to my computer I sometimes brighten up a picture with a photo-editing software (that came pre-loaded on my computer). That's about as fancy as I can get with the tools I have. I never feel completely confident about my photos and have so much to learn. I really should get more intentional about it and stop relying on my FO's to provide me my main picture-taking experiences.

  9. Becki you accomplished so much in your YOP year! I loved seeing the recap and all the wonderful colourful items. Your knitting has come on in leaps and bounds and I can't wait to see what's next for you in that and what's on next years list!
