Year of Projects Round-Up (2017-2018)

I think this is my favorite post of the whole year.  It's my Year of Projects Round-Up where I put all (or at least most) of the projects I've crocheted or knitted in the last 12 months in one spot.   It's so much fun to see all the yarny things I've managed to make and think about where the projects have gone (or are waiting to go or be used).

Let's start!

I'll admit it, this year my favorite projects were the quick ones.  In that category are dishcloths, potholders, motifs, bookmarks, bags...

Other small and/or quick projects I made this YOP year were hats and scarves.  These items were donated to Bundle-Up! - a local charity event where these kinds of items are distributed to kids and teens in need.

And I've gotten an early start making scarves for this upcoming autumn's collection drive:

I also made a couple of scarves and a little sweater that became (or will become) gifts for some special someones:

~~~~
And some things I made just because...
~~~~

And, of course, no year would be complete without some blankets:

Lastly...  while these are yet to be finished, I started two Spicier Life blankets this spring that have hours of crochet invested in them, but still surely have a mile or so each of crochet to work before they're finished:

And that's just about it!   There were, of course, projects that either got put into time-out or were frogged, and there are still a couple of projects languishing from years prior, but this compilation of projects are the ones that got attention this year.

  1. Quick projects are so satisfying. You surely did a lot this year. Your charitable hooking and knitting is heart warming.

    Goodness, you did quite a few blankets too. Those are not quick projects. Can hardly wait to see what you do next year.

    PS:I an still in love with you multicolored shawl with the tassels. I have it in my library for a rainy day project.

    1. The blankets aren't quick, but they (usually) are pretty mindless once one gets going. Then again, some become like an "albatross about my neck" (said looking at two Spicier Lifes piled on top of each other over there in the basket...)

    1. You're funny, Stef. I loved making the bunny dishcloth. And I have come up with a plan for the stars. At the time, I made them just because they looked interesting. It seems that's how my crocheting goes. Purpose often follows after I've made a thing.

    1. I think I like making the collages almost as much as I enjoy crocheting. :)

  5. WOWZA! That's a lot of projects! Even quick ones! I admire that you do so much for charity. I wish I could do more, but with limited time, I try to do some....

    1. This was the first year I actually made anything specifically with a charity in mind. Crocheting hats is a lot quicker than knitting them, so the large number I accumulated was pretty easy to accomplish. And I just quit when I tired of making them. Having a tremendous stash (that I want to whittle down) has also been motivating for making some quick projects I can move out of my house. I'll be surprised if I accomplish that much this time around. But we'll see. I have no goal in this regards. I just turned my focus there for a month and the above hats are what resulted. :)

  6. What a fun round up! Your collages are a visual delight and I'm super happy there's another crocheter active in YOP since I just discovered it. Your Spicier Life blankets are super pretty and I'm looking forward to seeing them done too.

  10. Such a beautiful post - all of your projects are wonderful but I have to admit my favourite is the blanket with the different colour squares with different textures - plus I love purples...
