Burn Through Stash Like Crazy - Week 2

Still working on stash-busting this week, I made more scarves and worked on a few hats.

Working from the instructions on this video, I combined a fairly nondescript dark purple, with multiple left-over colors of Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn and made a squishy, soft adult-sized scarf:
I'm pretty pleased with the results

And inspired by something I saw on Ravelry, I decided to combine white  yarn with Unforgettable Boutique in the colorway, Candied, and made a child-sized scarf:
I hope there's a child out there who'll enjoy this,
because I love this combination.
In fact, I like the combination
of white combined with the pastel rainbow colors
much more than I like the original colors by themselves.

And looking for some even quicker finishes, I worked on some hats - finishing one so far:
Pattern:  Divine Hat

And made another Boxes Dishcloth:
Love the texture of this cloth

Check out (at the bottom of this post) my yarn used YTD!  I may get closer to my goal than I thought I could a few weeks ago.  Yippee!

  1. Those scarves are fantastic. Combining those yarns worked out perfectly. I like the texture of the discloth. I might be putting that pattern in my library......just might be.

  3. Oh I like that effect. Do you think you used more than one skein of Unforgettable? I have a similar yarn: not being a knitter I don't know how far I can get on one skein.

    1. I'm not going to be too helpful, Jenn because I didn't take good notes. But I do know for the child's cowl I only used about 3/4's of a skein of Unforgettable, and for the adult scarf I know I used more than 1 skein's worth (probably 1.25 and 1.5 skeins). It's just going to depend on the size of one's scarf. I made the adult scarf moderately wide (I think I made them with 26 stitches cast on, and probably longer than most people might make a scarf. It comes to just above my knees. But that length allows me to sort of slip-knot it around my neck (which is how I prefer to wear a scarf. I'm making another one this week, so I'll try to take better notes!

  4. Becki all your makes are just lovely but those scarfs, the children's one in particular, are just gorgeous and a great stash busting idea.

  5. Ooh I love these scarves, it’s giving me some ideas to try different yarns together. I liked the last ones you did before but the pastel one is really lovely.

  7. Congrats on your de-stash! I might make a goal this year for that. This year was Good reads Challenge but I could use more challenges....especially one on de-cluttering my house! LOL! I have been enjoying combing yarns this week too. It works nice since I had one that was too dark and one was too bright but together they were just right!
I love the scarf and the hat and the child's scarf or is it a cowl? Very nice for 1 week! Merry Christmas!!!

    1. I find combining yarns kind of fascinating. I enjoy seeing how it changes the colors -in the child's cowl above, it took a pastel rainbow yarn from something that I felt was kind of blah, and transformed it into white sugar coated candy! Now I want to buy more of that yarn, but I will not!!!! Not unless I can buy enough to make something like a baby blanket. I think that would be super sweet.
