Year of Projects 2019-2020 Round-Up!

June has been quite the month here (I have written a couple of posts prior to this one about what's been going on) and I'm so glad to have arrived at the final Sunday of the month for two reasons:
  • There's just something that feels really good about turning the calendar page after some hard things.  It's a new beginning of sorts - and who doesn't love a new beginning.
  • The annual YOP Round-Up post is my favorite post of the year.  It's interesting to look back and see what I've done crafty-wise over the course of the last twelve months because I always find a project or two I've completely forgotten about, and when motivation is temporarily waning, it reminds me that I haven't truly been as unproductive as I may be feeling right now.

While I have a feeling I've missed some things, here's a look back:.

I have enjoyed getting back to cross stitch:

And I've discovered how easy and fun Helical Knitting is:

I really need to do more of this...

I've also enjoyed some quick and easy projects:

As well as more time consuming projects:

And as always, I enjoyed making scarves:

And this year added scarf/shawls to the mix:

And in my on-going quest to use up my huge stash of cotton yarn, I knitted lots of dishcloths again.  This is just a sampling:

Also, I finished a langushing toddler sweater (now ready to gift to a toddler some day):

And lastly, I mustn't forget my Sacred Space blanket:

A kind of funky, just-for-fun project:

I have a feeling (with hub's healing from knee surgery and eventually getting back to clearing out MIL's home after her recent passing) life is going to be slowing down my crafty times for a while, but who knows...  If can get back to thinking of crafting as a soothing activity it may provide refreshment.  At the moment, it's just feeling like one more thing to do.  Nothing soothing about that.

While June has been a doozy, maybe just turning the calendar page will get me over this hump I'm experiencing.  Here's hoping a new YOP Year provides many of us with a needed lift in this year that has been anything but normal.

  1. This past month has been a doozy for you. You did some lovely items this past year. Your cross stitch fun to watch. Especially the silhouette of the girl and the guessing game you made of it. Hopefully, things will settle down in a bit so you can enjoy crafting with a clear conscious. Glad Hubby's surgery went well and he is now home with you.

    1. Thanks, Marsha! That little girl silhoutte was really fun to do. And it was fun to read the guesses as to what I was making. Today has been a very good day for hubs. He is noticing that today his leg is feeling less painful. And he's encouraged by how much he can move it when exercising it. I know there are weeks ahead of physical therapy and the road back and forth may get old, but I couldn't be more happy about where he's at at this point.

  2. Your projects have all been so pretty. I was just thinking the other day I should do a half year round up of projects because I have stitched quite a few this year.
I too am kind of ready to reset the year with a turn the page of the calendar. Turning the page offers hope.

    1. It would be fun to see pictures of your projects in a round-up post. And it might be a great boost to you, too. Half-way through the year seems a perfect time for a reset. Especially this year. I think we all need a reset to 2020!

  3. You take care of you (and hubby too) I love your cross stitches and all your hats and well everything you do. That circle blanket is amazing - I love the colours and stitches and wonder if I could every pull off something like that. I am so glad you invited me to this group all those years ago. All of you have become so important to me.

    1. I can't believe we wrote something so similar to each other, Mary-Ann - and at the very same time. Looking forward to another YOP year!

  4. I’m sorry this has been a tough time recently, perhaps it’s good timing to be coming to the end of this year of Projects, as there’s absolutely no pressure to have a huge list or even a medium sized list or even a defined list for the next year. Even if it is simply to make things that bring you joy. I so love you sacred space blanket in those colours, it really stands out as such a highlight. But I also love all your cross-stitches too and the blue tit cushion. I hope as you look around your home and you see these treasures you have made that your crafting mojo returns and life becomes more settled. It has for sure been a strange first half of 2020 so here’s hoping it gets better.

    1. Thank you, Liz. I'm thinking I'm going to just make myself pick up hook and/or knitting needles and work on some mindless project(s) this week. It may be that that is all I need to bring back my crafty mojo. I just know for the last three weeks I've looked into my craft room and I just turn around and walk away from it. It just seems like too much effort. I haven't even gone in there to just sit and read. I'm clearly in a funk. It probably won't take that much to break the spell now that I'm pretty much forced to be home for a while. This week! I think I can...

  5. From my perspective, it looks like you have had a wonderfully productive year! (My own creative wheels turn very slowly.) So many lovely things you have created!

Isn't it a good thing that we don't know what a month will bring? Thankful for His great grace that carries us through the storms of life.

    1. I related to the creative wheels turning slowly. Honestly, I've never been more productive in crafty things as I have been participating in the Year of Project project.

Re the stresses of life, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am thankful that we don't know what each day will bring before it's brought, and I am thankful for God's grace that guides us through it all - sometimes giving strength, sometimes carrying us in our weakness.

  6. What a fun, project roll call to see. The manadala is terrific. Love seeing those heavy scarves you made and color array of dishcloths. And love the first, helical hat. Rock on, Mrs.

  7. You have certainly had a lot on your plate both physically and emotionally. I'm so glad you are still hanging in here with us. It is amazing when we look back how much we did accomplish although I will never win a prize for the most done in a year! But I am a process person mainly so it's okay and I don't have a competitive bone in my body or a jealous one either. I just love the camaraderie and being inspired by all the wonderful projects! I always adore everything you make and I should just copy your list and call it a day! LOL! I still think I need a camera like yours though! :) Rest up, take care of your husband but also yourself and find a project that is simple and mindless so you can relax with it. There's also "Calgon take me away"! LOL! I will pray for the healing of your family and you and for peace. Huge Hugs ~ Sam

    1. I'm feeling a burst of energy today (Monday) that I haven't felt for a while. I like Mondays as new beginning points, too. :) "Calgon take me away" sure takes me back. lol And what a lovely picture it forms in the mind. I wonder if they still make Calgon...

  8. I'm glad the surgery went well, and as others have said, take care of yourself as well. I think your projects always look perfect and I strive to make mine as beautiful. Hope the next year is a better one for us all.

  9. I enjoyed seeing your roundup of pretties - my favourite still has to be that Sacred Space blanket. Now that your beloved is home and mending, don't forget to take some time for you. You don't have to create, just be quiet within yourself and regroup.

    1. Yes, I'm finding that quiet time alone right now really difficult to accomplish - without interruption. I do need to be intentional for it to happen. Thank you for that thought, Mary-Anne.

  10. My, you have been busy and productive! Everything is lovely! I really need to finish something so I can feel good about myself but seem to be experiencing a drought when it comes to crafting. Looking at your yop's is inspiring.💖 Craft on!
