A bit of stitching...

This past second week of November saw the finish of Part 3 (sounds so much better than "March's section") of the Linen & Threads' 2020 Mystery Sampler:

I am soooo behind on this project, but I'm glad that when I got back to it, I was happy to be working on it.  Gives me hope that I will finish it.

Someday.  😉

This may be my shortest YOP post ever, but that's all I got!

  1. Ah, now you know why I don't do KALs... can't keep up. Funny my friend just picked back up a cross stitch project she hasn't worked on for many years. Unfortunately our older eyes are making the navy background impossible to do unless there is strong light.

    1. Yeah... I don't really care for KALs or CALs, either - especially mystery ones. I'm not really participating with a community, so it doesn't feel as behind as it would if I were regularly checking in and sharing my progress. Though yesterday I did catch up on others' progress on FB and I was blown away by how nearly complete everyone else's is. I probably shouldn't have looked. lol

  2. What loveliness! You do such beautiful work no matter what craft it is. That is a beautiful design and you will finish it but meanwhile enjoy the process!

    1. Awww, thank you, Sam. It is a tedious stitch - that's kind of hard on my right shoulder, but I do want to finish it. I just give myself shoulder massages after my stitching stints.

  3. That is a lovely sampler you are working on. So what if you are a little behind. It is all in the joy of making the item. BTW, this was a really short post! LOL

  4. Yay! I'm happy to see a return of this project. I'm looking forward to maybe doing a cross stitch project once I get my eyes fixed but I doubt that will happen anytime too soon.

    1. I'm thinking I should focus on this while I can. I have a slow growing cataract and I wonder if I will notice my vision diminishing before the eye doctor tells me it's time to remove it. Do you notice your eyesight diminishing?

Also, this summer I experienced a PVD (I'll let you google it if you're curious) - which has left a fuzzy bit of vision right in the middle of my right eye. I don't know how much the cataract may be affecting me, but I've realized the PVD has made me less interested in doing handwork - since mid-summer really. But I'm going to keep plugging away as long as I can.

    2. Oh yes, my sight is dwindling a lot. I find it nearly impossible to see now to do any fine work and the computer was a problem until I figured out how to embiggen the type. I'm due next week to see the surgeon to start the process but shut downs are looming here again so I doubt there will be anything happen for months - if not at least a year.

    3. I do hope you get the surgery sooner than you may think. We're all going to be paying a very long time for all the many ways the lockdowns cost us. I am fortunate to live in a state in the US whose governor is not prone to any more severe lock downs (like we had last spring). But medical services end up being affected nonetheless because there is still great care being taken, and lots of resources going to COVID care.

  5. I like how that maroony red pops against the fabric.

    1. Thank, Stef. I do too. I actually matched the floss to a chair we have.

  6. Your sewing is lovely, it doesn't matter how long it takes I think it's enjoying the process that's the most important.

    1. Thank you, Linda. And I so agree (in this case) about enjoying the process over caring how long it takes. :)

  7. That's a lovely piece of work. Time isn't the issue here. The pleasure you got from picking it up again is important. The competitive edge of stitchalongs and knitalongs maybe keeps some people going, but I like that you're going at your own pace.

    1. I never really thought of SALs and KALS (and such) as competitive endeavors, but more as activities to inspire each other, but even in that they can fall short as I have sometimes found myself less happy with, say, a color scheme after seeing someone else's I like better. That doesn't feel like competition to me, but it can be a blow to my contentment and confidence. Maybe these issues are cousins of each other, though. Hmmm... something to think about. While I momentarily regretted looking at all the nearly finished projects (when I'm only 3 parts in) I did gain inspiration and ideas from others. That's one of the nice things about being something of a tagalong with a stitch-a-long - knowing full-well the trailblazers are the truly brave and creative ones.

    1. Hi Mary Anne! Check mid-week as that is my plan for posting about decluttering. Thanks for the encouragement. Yes... all in good time.

  10. I am sure you will finish your project! I love the shade of red you are using!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. It's funny... after an hour or so of stitching with this red under a bright day-light light bulb, it starts to take on a "rust" color. But if I give my eyes a break and come back to it, it becomes a pretty burgundy or maroon again. :)

  11. Such a pretty design! I think we have to go with what we are "in the mood" for. I am thinking I am in the mood to work on wips to complete the many crochet and sewing projects I have in baskets. I know if I finished a few it would really give my self esteem a boost.

    1. I so agree. I completed some small WIPs recently and it really did help me to feel better about my crafting. At the moment, I'm collecting finished cross stitch projects and waiting for inspiration about how they should be finally finished up. Mostly, I just need to focus and make some decisions. I suspect the final finishing won't be nearly as hard as my procrastinating is...

  13. It’s very pretty and there’s no-one judging you on how long it takes, so do it as the mood takes you.
