My current yarny endeavors...

I'm continuing to work on the chevron pillow this week.  Another 5 inches or so 'till I can sew it together.  Yay!

With all the color changing I will say I feel much better now that I've sewn in all the yarn ends up to this point. Waiting until the end to do this job would make me dread it so.  Doing it as I go makes for a much more exciting job of crocheting and watching the thing grow.  And it also makes for easier crocheting as this pattern tends to want to pull in on the sides, bringing all those loose ends to hang and tangle with my free crocheting yarn.  Unless I have a good reason not to, I try to sew in my ends as I go anymore (especially on large items).  It makes me a happier woman as I'm finishing up a project.

And here are two other crochet projects underway that are waiting on the sidelines for me to get back to someday...

  1. I know what you mean about weaving in the ends. I knit a pair of scrappy socks and did the ends as I went along as it was too much to contemplate at the end. Your pillow looks lovely and the colors of your shawl are beautiful.

    1. Thank you, Ann. The shawl is meant to be a casual wrap and I wanted it to be in some interesting colors. :^)

  2. I must admit I haven't done many stripey projects, so I never have too many ends, but that seems like a good idea! Love the look of your arrowhead blanket.

    1. Thanks, Lucy. The stitch on the arrowhead blanket is pretty simple, but it makes for rich-looking and bulky fabric - surprisingly, since it's crocheted with a single strand of worsted weight. It's pretty gratifying.

  3. The Chevron Pillow is really coming along, I love the colour patette and can't wait to see it complete. I think your right on finishing off ends, when I do blankets I have to do it also, drives me crazy otherwise at the end. Looking forward to seeing those other projects as well.

    1. Thanks, Ruth. I'm back to liking the color combination again this week. :^) I think, because I wove in all those ends. It cleaned it up and now I can picture it as a pillow. For a while there it was just looking a bit of a mess. :^)

  4. I'm in total agreement about weaving in ends as you go! With my stripe-y socks I'm doing Russian joins so that there are no ends. If I had a bunch of ends to weave in after binding off those socks would probably languish for weeks! That blue really pops amongst the warm neutrals!

    1. I know! I was glad to see you joining Ravelry's YOP again this year, Erin. It seems we crocheters are outnumbered. But I do love looking at the wonderful knitted things, too. One of these days I'm going to give it a try. :^)
