30 days to less - day 18

Today's haul is the result of looking under the bed.

I have no idea how long this collection of clear glass Christmas ornaments has been under there waiting for me to do something creative with them.  I remember once upon a time having a plan for them.

Years ago I was into taking old glass Christmas balls, removing the paint inside (with bleach, I believe), and once dry, filling them with various things. Since I haven't been inspired to do anything with these ornaments for so long that I'd forgotten about them, I'm happy to let them go.

Day 18:  199 things gone

  1. So happy to hear I am not the only one that does this type of thing. Those will make someone very happy. Kids love to decorate them inside and out.

  2. You know I have a few of those I could put in my bags I have been filling as well!

  3. Inspired by your project. Today I sorted dishes into a more than half full banana box.

  4. I've sometimes seen these filled with ORTS but it's not something I would do myself. I've also seen them filled with little things that represent a melted snowman. Kinda cute, but not my thing either.

    1. Hmmm... you're going to have to help me with ORTS. I've googled it, but nothing seems to fit. And my imagination isn't coming up with anything. Immensely curious now. I can picture the melted snowman in a ball! Years ago, I created some potpourri stuffed ornaments, and I've seen them filled with any number of things over the years. Not terribly interested in that anymore, either.

    2. ORTS - hmmm, I can't remember what the initials actually stand for but it's referring to the bits of threads that are too short to lose when you're sewing. People save them up and create things from them. One of the bloggers used to run a year-long ORT challenge where you posted pictures of your 'leftovers' from the previous month. Might stand for Old Recycled Thread(s)....hmmm.....

    3. Ah! I wasn't coming up with that at all. :) I don't imagine it would make for a pretty ornament, but it might be fun to save all the little thread ends for a year just to see what it looks like or how much it would amount to. This year, it wouldn't amount to much for me, but still... kind of a fun idea.

  5. I’ve just caught up but don’t think you shared your link in the YOP thread. I have some we hang on the tree and they just have fibre in and actually bits of random yarn snippings from sewing in ends etc look great if you pop some in and they are very colourful.

    1. I didn't post in the YOP thread this week, Liz. I thought about posting in the non-YOP thread this week, but I didn't imagine this post would interest most YOPers. Maybe I should since you came looking for me. ;^)
