30 days to less - day 25 and a little cross stitching...

The last Sunday of October and I'm a little closer to finishing this October stitch:

Maybe I'll get it  finished in time to enjoy it next October.

~~~~~
And today's declutter is 25 packages or bits of lace Seam Tape or Hem Facing...
I'm curious if anyone has any creative ideas for using this product (it's just flat lace).  I have at least this much more saved back in case anyone inspires me with their idea(s).   Or, I'm also happy to rehome the rest if anyone can disabuse me of the idea of trying to get crafty with it.
FWIW, I have plenty of other ruffly lace in my craft stash so except for some interesting colors, perhaps, I don't know that I'm interested in going to the trouble of ruffling it so that it can be used.  But suggest away!  Otherwise, I might just get seriously free and get rid of it all.
Day 25:  356 things gone
  1. A quick post to say Hi. Plan to logon soon on my desktop with multiple monitors so that I can test posting as you've suggested.
  2. Your October piece is cute. So, if you didn't sleep or eat, might it get done by Friday? As for the lace.....no clue as to what to do with it. Good luck.
  3. I would use that trim as ribbons for gifts - I often do that, particularly when I don't have just the 'right' ribbon in my stash (which actually is quite often!).
    1. Now that's an idea I hadn't thought of or seen online. You get points for a brand-new-to-me idea, Mary Anne.
    2. You're welcome! See?....I do have the odd good idea.
  4. If it is vintage seam tape, it sells for about $20 for five packages, according to Etsy. Otherwise, donate. I make all my own seam tape in fabrics of my choosing, which I think most who sew are doing these days. Love that cross stitch!
    1. Well, I just had some fun looking at gobs of this stuff for sale on Etsy. Thank you, Vee! It seems that seam tape is a term that is used for different things. I do have some vintage seam tape that's more like a ribbon. I'm having visions of ruffling up some of it to embellish some thing(s) with. We'll see if that actually happens. This was helpful. Oddly... just seeing so much of it on Etsy kind of gives me an answer I was hoping for - that I might just free myself of it all (or most of it) and donate it.
  5. Well I like the idea of it being used to gift wrap presents and then the recipient may use it for something else if they wish. You just watch the second you get rid of it lace trim will be all the rage haha! That’s my constant thought with the random cr*p I have stored.
    1. I know! That is the dilemma. The question I think I need to ask myself is... if I were to discover a really great idea for this stuff (at some point) would I go out and buy it or use something else, or just take a pass. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go buy this. Except for some of the interesting colors it's just not that appealing. I think I'm coming up with my answer...
  6. Great job. I don't know if I can think of too much to do with the seam tape. There are some crafty people out there. You might try Pinterest or just get it out and save room for the stuff you love:)
  7. Your cross stitch is so sweet! As for the lace and edging; many cross stitch finishers use it to frame around their cross stitch. They use stitcky board and cover it with fabric and stick their XS on that and then wrap a larger piece of sticky board with fabric and the lace or rick-rack. You can see it on The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch podcast. Good job on both!
    1. The problem with this lace is it's just not very decorative looking - especially along the edges. I think it needs ruffling - or I'm thinking pleating might be an interesting treatment. Enjoyed watching some of these gal's videos.
  8. Flat lace, seam tape and trimes I use for borders on craft projects. I see folks using it for crazy quilt frames and such. I also use the lace hem tapes for Shibori fabric dyeing technique.
  10. Thd October cross stitch is lovely. I have no ideas for the lace, I think I'd destash, especially if I had other bits!
  11. I love the cross stitch! I am feeling the pull to get back into more cross stitch myself, especially small seasonal pieces.
    You have plenty of thoughts regarding the lace -- I was going to suggest selling it on Etsy. I've used it in paper crafting, and I think people would incorporate into into junk journaling, too. And I have also seen it used on tags rather than ribbon or string. It looks especially cool on shipping tags. I will email you a photo.
    1. Oh... I can see people using something like this in junk journaling. And tying onto tags. I like these ideas! The tag idea is definitely something small enough that I could do without much effort. Thank you, Mrs. T! Okay! I am going to hang onto some of what I've held back and find opportunities to do these fun, simple things. :)
  12. Oh my that reminds me - I have at least that many seam tapes in my sewing machine cabinet. They belonged to my aunt (who passed away in 2008.) I keep thinking I could do something with them too, so I will stay posted to any replies you get about crafting with them otherwise they too need to go to a new home.
    1. Well, I really liked Mrs. T. suggestion above. I'm going to try to make some tags with lace ties for gift giving.
  13. For sewing, lace can be used for finishing off cross stitch pillows. Besides sewing, that lace could be used for bullet journaling or even cards.
    1. I can totally see someone using these laces for bullet journaling (or junk journaling as Mrs. T mentioned above). And card making is a very good idea from the card making queen! :)
  14. Yes, I have 3 options for commenting. I have commented as Maureen D (Google) in the past. On this one I'm replying using the URL which I think I did above as well?? (I have no memory any more - gets me into lots of trouble).
