 Today's post is small things.

Eight pieces of jewelry that will hopefully make a young girl smile.

  1. Nice! Back in the day when I was collecting 'stuff' for crazy quilting I would have happily taken those off your hands and harvested them.

    1. I can see that! I'm wrestling right now with whether or not to salvage some stuff off of some old watches.

    2. I recently saw some amazing embroidery done inside old pocket watches....very inspiring, but alas no pocket watches in my house. Not that I'd probably do it even if there were!

    3. I need to see this. Did you, perhaps, provide a link in one of your blog posts that I overlooked?

    4. I wish I could remember where/when I saw them. I just 'googled' and found this one (but it's not what I remember seeing)...https://www.needlenthread.com/2019/03/tapestry-smalls-pocket-watch-finishing-kits.html
As I remember, the ones I saw looked like embroidered moss.

    5. That is so pretty! Inspires me to contemplate more widely how to finish off various needlework designs.

    1. It's fun how the simplest things can make a young girl happy. Even just little bling.

  3. I have a bit of hope for you today. I have been making my around to some cabinets and closets this week when I had a free moment and I have to tell you after 5 years (well that number might not make you feel better) of doing the rounds of decluttering I have really pared things down. What I mostly have left is the really hard stuff. The sentimental things that I feel I still have too much of. I have been filling a laundry basket with my finds this round and I have filled up a basket but I am filling much better about things.

    1. That does give me hope, Sandy. Thank you for taking the time to share that with me. This makes me think. We had a plumbing issue in our master bath this week. Today, I emptied out the cabinets and I'm wondering if I can be ruthless about tossing some things instead of putting it all back.

  4. Donating jewelry, I think, is one of the toughest tasks for clearing out things. Bravo!

    1. Especially since there are so many clever, creative ways to recycle it. That's where my mind goes, anyway - being that I'm not much of a jewelry wearer and only have a few pieces of sentimental items. I will say, though... having received a number of pieces of my MIL's I've imagined myself wearing some things I had before decided weren't really my style - just to experiment. Age also brings a different perspective.
