  2. I do love Roma plum tomatoes. Great for sauce, lemon tomato jam, everything. Nowadays mine come from the farm though.

    1. Lemon tomato jam is a new one to me, Liz. Normally I'm not a big jam or jelly person, but this sounds intriguing. I need to look this up.

  3. Looking good!
Roma are 95% of the type of tomatoes I buy.

    1. Thanks, May. I don't typically buy Roma tomatoes, but seeing as I wanted to can some for chili and maybe sauces, I knew I wanted some in my garden. I may just convert to almost all Romas next year.

  4. Yum!! We used three baskets (well 2 1/2 to be more exact) making the ill-fated jam. Roma's are the best!

    1. Ah, you didn't get the tomato jam to set up, Mary Anne? That would be pretty disappointing, I imagine.

    2. Oddly enough one batch set, but the other didn't. No idea why because they were made exactly the same.

  5. It generally doesn't take too long once they begin changing color.

    1. I'm heading out to the garden in a few minutes. From the office window I see lots of spots of red in the garden. :)

    1. I'm getting the impression that these are many people's favorite. This is the first time I've grown them.

  7. That is awesome Becki! Once again, no tomatoes for me - the Summer has been brutal in that respect.

    1. Was the heat too much, TB? Here it has been amazingly hot for way too many weeks. I'm so glad we've gotten down into the 80's finally and it looks like we'll have these temps for at least a couple more weeks. I'm growing in hope that I'll be able to get them all harvested and processed before I become one-handed for a while. :)

  8. That is promising! We have been enjoying some lovely summer tomatoes, but alas, we did not plant them. They are gifts from a brother-in-law, a sister, and a neighbor, and very much appreciated!

    1. Gifts might just be better than growing them yourself, Cheryl. =D

  9. I love plum tomatoes, meaty and tasty. I think they last longer on the counter than other tomatoes.
