Ruth playing Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
While I can't provide a video of Ruth playing, I did just find this most extraordinary performance:
How do earthly voices do this?
Jesu, joy of man's desiring,
Holy wisdom, love most bright;
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light.
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
With the fire of life impassioned,
Striving still to truth unknown,
Soaring, dying round Thy throne.
Through the way where hope is guiding,
Hark, what peaceful music rings;
Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
Drink of joy from deathless springs.
Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;
Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown
Holy wisdom, love most bright;
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light.
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
With the fire of life impassioned,
Striving still to truth unknown,
Soaring, dying round Thy throne.
Through the way where hope is guiding,
Hark, what peaceful music rings;
Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
Drink of joy from deathless springs.
Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;
Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown

What a blessing to he able to hear her play that piece. One of my all time favorite pieces of music.
ReplyDeleteYour friend must get many hours of pleasure at the piano and you were blessed enough to hear her music. And Celtic Woman are amazing too - love their performances that we've seen on PBS.
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice Becki :)
ReplyDeleteI love that song and how blessed are you to hear her play it. I always wanted to learn to play piano. I'm still going to try AFTER I get the all the other chores done..lol!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful she still plays. I'm trying to get the husband to tune our spinet so I can start playing again.
